If you’re using WordPress for your website, then you need to ensure that it’s optimized for search engines. The best plugins for SEO are Rank Math or Yoast SEO. Here are some tips to get started:
- For each page on your site, set up the title tag with the main keyword that aligns with your page. This is the main text that appears in Google, so getting it right is crucial.
- Fill in the meta description, which is the text that runs under the title tag in Google results. Keep it between 150 and 160 characters and include keywords that align with your page and what people might search for.
- Naming your images is important, as Google reads those in the code. Use words that relate to the page and topic, and keep the image names to 5 words or less. For example, if the page is about ice cream, the image name should be “chocolate-ice-cream.jpg” instead of “image2.jpg”.
- Use Rank Math to set the ALT text of what the image is. This helps with Google SEO and you can get traffic from Google Images.
