For 67 years, Nelson Mandela devoted himself to pursuing freedom, justice and democracy. Mandela Day is a worldwide celebration of the values Mandela stood for, and is marked by individuals taking 67 minutes out of their days to make a difference in their communities, inspire change and work towards building a better world.
For Mandela Day 2017 our Blue Juice Design team decided to give back to the community by providing children from Hearts that Hope with some fun materials to help them explore their creativity.
Hearts that Hope is a children’s home that provides underprivileged, homeless children with a safe place to live. Besides looking after their basic needs, the home wants to give the children in their care hope for the future and help them to grow in every aspect of their lives. They provide the children with a family environment, opportunities for community involvement and get them enrolled in schools where they have the opportunity to fulfill their potential. They’ve even started a Hearts That Hope School for three of their children who can’t be in the ‘main-stream’ school system.
We had great fun spending time putting together creativity packs for the 13 children they’re currently looking after.
